When Kelley Blue Book analyzed the trucks with the lowest five-year cost-to-own, the 2019 Toyota Tundra was the winner. Not only does this truck have a history of reliability, but it happens to be pretty cheap to maintain. It can also tow more than 10,000 pounds, which makes it a versatile truck for many buyers.
Kelley Blue Book put the five-year cost to own at $45,920. Toyota also equipped the Tundra with plenty of room for passengers and a comfortable ride. There wasn’t much to dislike about the 2019 Ford F-150. It has best-in-class towing numbers (13,200 pounds), best-in-class payload numbers (3,300 pounds), and best-in-class horsepower (450). Ford’s F-150 came in various configurations to suit many needs, even the ones looking for pickup trucks with surprisingly low maintenance costs.
Kelley Blue Book calculated the five-year cost-to-own cost to be $48,448. Since the F-150 is such a popular truck, there are plenty of parts to go around and plenty of people to fix it. This Ford truck is all about getting it fixed and back on the road as quickly as possible.

Don’t overlook the Ram 1500 for a good truck option
Ram offered the 2019 1500 with three powertrain options, two of which were hybrids. The towing capacity for the 2019 Ram 1500 is slightly less than the Ford at 12,750 pounds. However, this Ram truck is known for being comfortable and capable, which the 2019 version does quite well.
Kelley Blue Book says the Ram truck is now “lighter, stronger, more comfortable, more capable, and more efficient.” Some of the best safety features on the Ram truck are blind-spot monitoring and parallel and perpendicular park assist. Advanced Safety Group is a package that includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. The lowest-priced version was the Tradesman trim, and the five-year cost-to-own price was $49,525.
