Painting cranes and excavators is not a job that is easily done. However, it most definitely is a job that has to be done. You probably don’t have any idea how to do this by yourself. Fortunately, there are companies that specialize in this exact job, so you don’t have to. But how exactly does painting cranes and painting excavators work?
Crane painting cannot be done by just anyone. Therefore, it is important that the painting company has the place, time and materials for it. The building in which the crane is sprayed must be large enough and be able to carry heavy materials. Painting a crane can take up to 10-15 working days on average. Often the painting companies take care of transport themselves, so as the owner of the crane you don’t have to worry about that. Cranes are usually sprayed with a metallic paint. Spraying a metallic paint involves a great deal of care. For example, during the preparation, the paint is sanded with a fine grain, which can take some time. Nevertheless, it is important that the paintwork is carried out as well as possible. All metal particles in the paint must be in the same direction, otherwise there will be a difference in color and that is, of course, not the intention. The parts are also sprayed in sections. The direction of the metal particles must therefore always be taken into account, which is why spraying a crane can sometimes take a long time.
The spraying is a different process than spraying cranes. After all, excavators have to deal with tough conditions such as heavy weather conditions, but also the work that the excavator must be able to carry out. Therefore, great attention must be paid to the painting of excavators to ensure the best result. The excavator is first dismantled and small parts are kept separate. The machine is then sanded and parts that do not need to be painted are taped off. After these steps have been completed, the excavator can be sprayed. For this, a primer is applied first. The coating is applied on top of this. By using a mixing computer, all desired colors can easily be made. The best quality paint is used for excavators because they have to deal with tough conditions that are mentioned before. Most excavators are painted and ready for use in 10 days on average.
