The solution to manoeuvring your big bike around your garage

Posted on September 24, 2021 By admin

Unless you’ve got the biceps of Arnie or the brute strength of Geoffe Capes, wrestling your big adventure bike in and out of the garage can be a pain. Tight turns and inclined driveways add to the woes and I’ve no doubt that this sort of faff has lead to many a rider reaching for the car keys instead.

It doesn’t have to be this way though, because there’s a purpose-built solution to this very problem. It comes in the form of the Spin-It, a motorcycle turntable for your garage. Here’s how it works and why it could be the best accessory for your garage if you ride a big, heavy bike.

What is the Spin-It, and who’s it designed for?

The Spin-It really does do what it says on the tin. Ride onto the heavy-duty aluminium turntable, which is designed to hold motorcycles that weigh up to 450kg, put the kickstand down, and spin it around on the rollers until your bike faces the way you came. This eliminates the need for you to 23-point turn your bike around or drag it out next time you want to use it. Simple.

To keep the disc stable while you ride on and off there’s a foot-operated lock, and there’s also a reinforced central disc to use with your centre stand. The entire structure can also be lifted up onto two feet and stored vertically to save space in your garage when it’s not in use.

It’s such a handy tool that we’ve even had one installed in the garage at ABR HQ, where room is cramped and the ability to spin bikes around with ease is more than welcome.

As we installed our own motorcycle turntable in the ABR Garage I asked Kieron, Spin-It Director, who his typical clients were.

He explained that many of his customers were riders on big touring bikes, who loved exploring the world (often two-up) on two wheels. While they could handle their machines with ease on the road, their steep driveways or tight turnarounds at home could prove tricky when it came to backing their bikes out, or even just performing maintenance in the garage.

I don’t blame them either. I wouldn’t be confident backing a 125cc bike down a 15% gradient, let alone a fully-loaded Honda Goldwing.

This video shows the turntable in action, and you can really see just how simple of a solution it is.

If you struggle with getting your bike in and out of your garage or you just can’t be dealing with the faff, the Spin-It Motorcycle Turntable is well worth you checking out. The price is £999 + VAT, and for that you’ll get delivery to mainland UK and assembly of the turntable in your chosen location. You can find out more on Spin-It’s website.
