A YouTuber has been charged after police allege he modified a former ‘clown car’ to perform ‘dangerous manoeuvres’.

Sunshine Coast man Sam Eyles, 29, is accused of performing stunts with the purchase to then share on social media.

Police allege he purchased a ‘clown car’, which runs on a fuel system of a plastic jerrycan and a rubber hose, to which he then made additional modifications.

He is alleged to have performed various stunts such as repeated burnouts, front-wheel stands and even a car versus man tug-o’-war.

His YouTube channel – which has more than 200,000 subscribers – also allegedly shows the vehicle crash at speed on a road at Beerwah in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and roll down an embankment.

Mr Eyles channel also has instructional videos on how to modify vehicles.

Speaking about the YouTuber’s stunts, Sunshine Coast District Superintendent Craig Hawkins said his ‘antics’ put both his life and that of his friends at risk.

‘Putting not only your own life at risk but those of your mates for the sake of social media notoriety is childish and selfish behaviour,’ Supt Hawkins said.

‘Sharing these antics with his large contingent of online followers has come at a significant financial cost, both in fines and the loss of vehicles.’

On September 30 a search warrant was executed at a property in Image Flat, where officers seized multiple items including the ‘clown car’.

Mr Eyles was then charged with multiple offences which included dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, careless driving, driving with an unrestrained passenger and driving a defective vehicle.

He was granted bail and will next appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on December 12.

Police say they have also managed tracked down several others who allegedly appeared in the social media videos and consequently issued 70 traffic infringement notices to nine ‘participants’, worth $27,800 in total.

Daily Mail Australia approached Sam Eyles for comment on the allegations.
